ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey men’s weekly awards were announced Tuesday, October 22 as Ryan Haggerty from Rensselaer was voted Player of the Week; St. Lawrence’s Drew Smolcynski, was selected as the Rookie of the Week; and Michael Garteig from Quinnipiac was tabbed as Goaltender of the Week.
Ryan Haggerty, Rensselaer Polytechnic
(Junior, Forward - Stamford, Connecticut )
Haggerty scored five goals on 14 shots and was a plus-2 in two games last week, both non-league victories. He had two goals, including the game-winner on the power-play, with six shots and a plus-1 in a 3-1 win at No. 15 Boston University Friday. He came back the next night and recorded his first career hat trick with eight shots and a plus-3 in a 7-1 win over Sacred Heart in the Engineers' home opener.

Drew Smolcynski, St. Lawrence University
(Freshman, Forward - Hatfield, Pennsylvania)
Smolcynski scored two goals in his first collegiate game last Friday, Oct. 18 on the road at Ferris State. He netted both the Saints first goal in a comeback win, along with the game-winner midway through the third period as St. Lawrence split its weekend series winning game one, 3-2. He finished with a plus/minus rating of +2 on the weekend.

Michael Garteig, Quinnipiac University
(Senior, Goaltender - Prince George, British Columbia)
In a series sweep of No. 9 UMass Lowell, Garteig improved to 3-1-0 on the season. On Friday, Oct. 18, Garteig stopped 21 of UMass Lowell's 22 shots on goal in a 3-1 win at Tsongas Arena. On Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Bobcats' home opener, Garteig stopped 23 of the River Hawks' 24 shots on goal in another 3-1 win. He improves to 3-1-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage.
