Staenz & Maschmeyer Tabbed with Weekly Awards

ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey women’s weekly awards were announced Tuesday, December 10 as Phoebe Staenz, Yale earned both Player and Rookie of the Week honors, while Harvard’s Emerance Maschmeyer was voted the league’s Goaltender of the Week.

Player of the Week
Phoebe Staenz, Yale University
(Freshman, Forward - Zurich, Switzerland)

Staenz scored four goals on four shots Friday at Providence to help Yale to 5-1 win in team's only game of the week. The last recorded instance of a Yale player scoring four or more goals in a game was Jan. 26, 1982 (Reedie Field, five goals at Wesleyan). She now has 16 points in 11 games overall, second in nation in points per game (1,45) among freshmen and first in goals per game at 0.64.

Rookie of the Week
Phoebe Staenz, Yale University

Staenz earns her second consecutive ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week honor. Here four goals were the most nationally among her rookie counterparts and ranked second among all players. She has 14 points (6g-8a-14pts) in six games since she returned from playing for Team Switzerland at Smile Japan Bridgestone Blizzak Challenge in Tokyo.

Goaltender of the Week
Emerance Maschmeyer, Harvard University
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Bruderheim, Alberta)

Maschmeyer turned away a career-high 51 shots against No. 6/7 Boston College, allowing just one goal to the third-best scoring offense in the country. The 51 saves is the third-best performance in program history, six shy of second (57). She recorded a 0.92 goals-against average in her 65 minutes of work versus the Eagles.
