For the second time this season, Clarkson’s Loren Gabel (Kitchener, Ont.) has been named the WHCA Division I Player of the Month after leading the nation in scoring during the month of January.
The senior continued to build on her outstanding senior campaign, registering 17 points during the month on 11 goals and six assists last month. Three of those goals were game-winners for the Golden Knights, as the forward led Clarkson to a 6-1-1 record in January, closing out the month on a six-game winning streak. She had a point in seven of the eight games she played this month, including five multi-point outings.
Gabel set a number of school records last month as well, becoming the new Golden Knights scoring leader with over 193 career points, and surpassing the 100-goal mark during the last weekend of January.
Gabel now leads the nation in both points (55), and points-per-game (2.12) entering the final three weeks of the regular-season.
