CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly award winners, honoring Alex Campbell (Clarkson), Sam Malinski (Cornell), Luke Pearson (Yale), and Dalton Bancroft (Cornell) for the week of play ending February 4, 2023.
Forward of the Week
Alex Campbell (Jr., Clarkson) had a five-point performance for the Golden Knights in their 6-2 victory over Brown on Saturday, registering his second hat trick of the season and adding two more assists to contribute to five of the team’s six goals. Campbell opened the game with an assist on the Golden Knights’ second goal of the evening, then added another in the second period before scoring three of his own in the third, including two power play tallies.
Defender of the Week
Sam Malinski (Sr., Cornell) had a five-point weekend from the blue line for the Big Red, putting up three goals and two assists in Cornell’s weekend sweep of in-state competitors Rensselaer and Union. On Friday, Malinski put the Big Red ahead in the first period in what would stand as the game-winner. He followed up the performance with a four-point night on Saturday with two goals and two helpers in the team’s 10-1 decision at home against Union, including a power play tally in the third period.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Luke Pearson (So., Yale) had his best weekend of the season so far, making 52 saves against Clarkson and St. Lawrence to secure two victories for the Bulldogs and six huge league points. On Friday, Pearson made 27 saves in a 4-0 decision against the Golden Knights for his first clean sheet of the season and first of his career, then followed up that performance on Saturday with another shutout against St. Lawrence.
Rookie of the Week
Dalton Bancroft (Fr., Cornell) is back on the scoresheet in a big way, putting up three points in the Big Red’s dominant weekend sweep of Rensselaer and Union. On Saturday, Bancroft scored two goals and added a helper in the team’s 10-1 rout of Union. He opened the game with an assist on Cornell’s first goal of the contest, then scored the team’s third and sixth goals of the game.
