CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey is proud to name Dartmouth Head Coach, Reid Cashman, as the recipient for the Tim Taylor Coach of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season, as announced on Thursday night at the awards ceremony in Lake Placid, New York.
The finalists for the award were Rand Pecknold (Quinnipiac) and Mike Schafer (Cornell).
In his third full season at helm*, Cashman led the Big Green to a 9-6-7 conference record, more than doubling the team’s win column from the previous year and securing the team a bye into the quarterfinal round of the playoff tournament.
The Red Wing, Minnesota native, garnered his first league win of the season on November 4th in a 5-4 contest against Princeton. The Big Green tied four nationally-ranked opponents, and picked up the two shootout wins against Quinnipiac and Cornell.
Cashman came to Dartmouth after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL).
A former defenseman, Cashman graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2007, where he was an All-American, First Team All-ECAC, and a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist.
Please note that all statistics correspond to the final regular season statistics in ECAC Hockey play only.
*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ivy League announced that all league schools would not conduct any intercollegiate competitions during the winter of 2020-21
