PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown sophomore goaltender Lawton Zacher has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 Mike Richter Award, given annually to the nation's top goalie.
Zacher is the lone ECAC netminder on the list and is one of four sophomores named a semifinalist.
The Buffalo, New York native holds a .934 save percentage and 2.05 goals against average in 19 starts this season. His save percentage leads the ECAC and ranks sixth in the NCAA. His goals against average sits atop the conference and ranks 11th nationally.
He earned his third ECAC Goalie of the Week honor after Brown's consecutive wins over Yale last weekend. He also earned weekly recognition on December 30 and November 25. Additionally, he was named the ECAC Goaltender of the Month for November.
Zacher adds to his accolades this season – he is a Hobey Baker Memorial Award nominee and was named a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, given annually to the best American born college player in New England.
The finalists will be announced in early March with the winner announced during the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Louis.
Previous winners include Connor Hellebuyck (UMass Lowell), Thatcher Demko (Boston College), and Jeremy Swayman (Maine). Zacher looks to become the first ECAC goaltender to win the award.
