Wyttenbach, Veilleux, Verreault, Cournoyer Honored With January Monthly Awards

DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC proudly announces the men’s monthly award winners for January: Ethan Wyttenbach (Fr., Quinnipiac), Xavier Veilleux (Fr., Cornell), Antonin Verreault (Fr., Quinnipiac), and Alexis Cournoyer (Fr., Cornell).

Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month
Ethan Wyttenbach (Fr., Quinnipiac) claims Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month honors. The Sioux Falls Stampede alum had an impressive offensive display, ending the month with six goals (1 GWG and 1 PPG), ten assists, and a +8 rating in ten games. His most notable game was a one-goal, two-assist outing against Union on January 9th. Wyttenbach leads Quinnipiac in assists (26) and points (41) and is second in goals (15).

Defender of the Month
Xavier Veilleux (Fr., Cornell) earns Defender of the Month honors for his strong performance on the blue line in January. In ten games of action, the Islanders' draft pick netted three power play goals, tallied eight assists, and was +6 on the month. Most recently in the Big Red’s 4-2 win over Brown, Veilleux scored the fourth goal of the night and tallied two assists, one being the game-winner. Veilleux currently sits second in assists (13) for the Big Red, only two points behind teammate Ryan Walsh.

Rookie of the Month
Antonin Verreault (Fr., Quinnipiac) earns Rookie of the Month accolades. Verreault was stellar in ten contests as the Quebec native scored five goals (2 PPG), tallied ten assists, and is +9 on the month. His most notable game was against Harvard, where he scored one goal and tallied three assists in the Bobcats’ 9-1 victory. The freshman currently slots second behind teammate Ethan Wyttenbach in assists (18).

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Month
Alexis Cournoyer (Fr., Cornell) is honored as MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month for his stellar performance in the crease, posting a 7-1-0 record for the Big Red in January. The Montreal draft pick played in eight games, making 152 saves, with a .905 save percentage for a GAA of 2.00. Cournoyer earned his 13th career victory on January 31 in his 17th career appearance, becoming the fastest Cornell netminder to reach that threshold since the 2017-18 season.
