DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC Hockey is proud to announce the women's monthly award winners for games played in January: Issy Wunder (Sr. Princeton), Kate Manness (Fr., Clarkson), Sara Manness (Fr., Clarkson), and Samson Frey (Fr., Yale).
Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month
Issy Wunder (Sr. Princeton) secures Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month honors. The former Durham West Jr. Lightning forward tallied 13 goals, seven assists, three game-winning goals, two hat tricks, and two power play goals, and was +12 for the month of January. On January 3rd, the senior tallied six points in the Tigers' 10-0 win over Stonehill, netting four goals, her second career hat trick, as well as the game-winning goal, and two assists. Wunder is currently tied for first with teammate Mackenzie Alexander in goals (21) and is second in points (36).
Defender of the Month
Kate Manness (Fr., Clarkson) earns Defender of the Month recognition with a strong performance on the blueline for the Golden Knights. Manness was +14 on the month with three goals and 14 assists. The Manitoba native scored her third collegiate goal to begin 2026 and tallied a point in eleven straight games. The first year is second in assists (24) behind her sister and teammate Sara Manness and is third in points (29) on the CGK roster.
Rookie of the Month
Sara Manness (Fr., Clarkson) garners Rookie of the Month honors for January. The Burlington Barracuda alum netted 14 goals, tallied nine assists, and was +16 on the month. Manness netted four game winners and her third career hat trick in January. On January 24, Manness scored two goals (1 GWG) for the Golden Knights over Harvard, becoming the first Clarkson player in program history to score a goal in 10 consecutive games in the course of one season. The Golden Knights hit the road to open up February play against Yale and Brown.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Month
Samson Frey (Fr., Yale) has been recognized as the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month. The New York native was strong in between the pipes for Yale, posting a 10-0-0 record, a 0.950 save percentage and 1.07 goals against average. Frey posted three shutouts, and has the Bulldogs in the midst of an 11-game winning streak.
