DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC Hockey proudly announces the men’s monthly award winners for March: Kai Daniells (Jr., Princeton), Tim Busconi (So., Dartmouth), Matthew Mayich (Fr., Clarkson), and Emmett Croteau (Jr., Dartmouth).
Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month
Kai Daniells (Jr., Princeton) claims Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Month honors. The British Columbia native had an impressive offensive display, ending the month with three goals (1 GWG and hat trick), four assists, and 1.75 points per game in four games played. On March 14, Daniells scored a hat trick (an empty net goal and the game-winning goal) in the Tigers' 5-2 win over Union, punching their ticket to Lake Placid.
Defender of the Month
Tim Busconi (So., Dartmouth) earns Defender of the Month honors for his strong performance on the blue line throughout March. In five games of action, the Massachusetts native tallied one goal and two assists on the month. The Big Green faced off against the Princeton Tigers in the ECAC Championship game in Lake Placid. After three periods of play, the score was 1-1, forcing overtime, where Busconi netted the game-winning goal and secured Dartmouth’s first-ever ECAC Championship.
Rookie of the Month
Matthew Mayich (Fr., Clarkson) earns Rookie of the Month accolades. The rookie defender was crucial to the Golden Knights efforts in the month of March. In four games played, Mayich scored a shorthanded goal and tallied three assists, adding a +3 rating on the month. Mayich came in clutch on March 14 in a 4-3 win over Quinnipiac, where he scored a short-handed goal and tallied one assist, sending Clarkson to Lake Placid.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Month
Emmett Croteau (Jr., Dartmouth) is honored as MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month for his stellar performance in the crease, leading Dartmouth to their first ECAC Championship, and was awarded ECAC Championship MOP. Croteau secured a 4-1-0 record for the Big Green, making 122 saves with a .953 save percentage, posting one shutout and allowing three goals for a GAA of 1.16.
