DANBURY, CONN. - ECAC Hockey is proud to announce that eight players with ECAC Hockey ties will represent the league at the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey Men’s World Championship in Switzerland.
Sam Lafferty (Brown), Matt Coronato (Harvard), and Connor Clifton (Quinnipiac) will represent the United States. Haralds Egle (Clarkson) and Arvils Bergmanis (RPI) will skate for Latvia, while Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup (Clarkson) will represent Denmark. Liam Steele (Cornell) and Samuel Lyne (Colgate) will represent Great Britain, Filip Sitar (RPI) will skate for Slovenia, and Ian Scherzer (RPI) will play for Austria.
Competition began on May 15 and will run until May 31, with the gold medal game scheduled for Sunday, May 31, at 2:20 PM ET. Group A comprises the United States, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Austria, Hungary, and the United Kingdom. Group B features Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Slovenia, and Italy.
