COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Dartmouth’s men's ice hockey head coach Reid Cashman has been named Head Coach of the US Under-18 Select Team, which will represent the United States at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alberta from August 3-8.
This is Cashman’s first time being selected as head coach with a US National Team after serving as assistant coach with Team USA for the 2023 U20 World Junior Championship. Cashman finalized a 23-man roster to compete at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup after being in St Paul, Minnesota for the selection camp from July 23-27.
Additionally, Princeton men's ice hockey equipment manager Mike Thibault has been selected to serve on the USA Hockey team staff. Thibault has worked with Princeton's men's ice hockey team since arriving on campus in 2017 and was part of Princeton's 2017-18 ECAC Championship staff.
The eight-team tournament will feature two groups of four teams where the US Under-18 Men's Select Team will play preliminary games against Group B opponents Czechia, Finland and Germany. Group A consists of Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Slovakia, and the top two teams in each group will advance to the semifinal round of the tournament, with the championship and third-place games taking place Saturday, August 8 at Rogers Place.
Team USA looks to defend its 2025 championship this year against Canada, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. Games will be played at Rogers Place and Downtown Community Arena.
