Frechette, Bard, Rampado, Regalado, Brown Claim Weekly Awards

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its women’s weekly award winners, honoring Gillis Frechette (Cornell), Sydney Bard (Colgate), Amanda Rampado (Rensselaer), and Alyssa Regalado (Cornell) and Jade Iginla (Brown) for the week of play ending October 23, 2022.

Forward of the Week

Captain Gillis Frechette (Sr., Cornell) had five points en route to the team’s first two wins of the season. Her two goals on Friday included the first tally of Cornell’s 2022-23 campaign, and she followed it up with her first game-winner of the weekend in the second period. On Saturday, Frechette converted on the power play in the second period to extend the Big Red’s lead to 3-1. She followed it up with assists on both of Izzy Daniel’s goals and helped Cornell sweep the Lakers to open the season.

Defender of the Week

Sydney Bard (Sr., Colgate) helped the Raiders extend their unbeaten streak this weekend with two wins over a nationally ranked opponent in Vermont. On Friday, Bard assisted on two of Colgate’s four goals, including Kassy Betinol’s equalizer in the first period and Danielle Serdachny’s insurance goal early in the third. Bard also assisted on Serdachny’s game-winner on Saturday, powering the Raiders to a weekend sweep of the Catamounts.

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week

Captain Amanda Rampado (Sr., Rensselaer) powered the Engineers to their first two wins of the season and first weekend sweep when the team topped RIT by a combined score of 5-0. On Friday, Rampado was the final line of defense against four Tiger power plays, making 13 saves on 13 shots for her first shutout of the season. She followed up her performance with another incredible game on Saturday that saw her turn away another 29 shots for her second straight shutout. 

Co-Rookies of the Week

2022 U-18 Women’s World Champions Alyssa Regalado (Fr., Cornell) and Jade Iginla (Fr., Brown) have been honored as co-Rookies of the Week. Regalado, a defender, scored her first collegiate points and first collegiate hat trick in the Big Red’s 7-2 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Her first goal came as a power play equalizer in the first period of Saturday’s contest, and she followed it up with a goal apiece in the second and third periods. 

Iginla, a forward, made an immediate impact in Brown’s first two games of the season with two goals and an assist that helped power the Bears to a weekend split with Stonehill. On Friday, Iginla opened the scoring with the first goal of her collegiate career and Brown’s first goal of the 2022-23 campaign. On Saturday, Iginla scored the go-ahead game-winner in the second period and assisted on a third period power play tally to secure the 3-1 win.
