Lee, Beck, Watson, and Hanley Honored with Monthly Awards

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s award winners for the month of October: Jakob Lee (Rensselaer), Noah Beck (Clarkson), Jack Watson (Rensselaer), and Nate Hanley (Union).

Forward of the Month

Jakob Lee (Jr., Rensselaer) earns Forward of the Month honors after an outstanding start to his junior campaign. In 7 games with the Engineers so far this month, Lee has scored three goals, all on the power play, and added six assists for the league lead in points (9) and point-per-game average (1.29). On October 15, he scored the game-winner in a 7-4 win against Army. Additionally, Lee’s nine points just seven games into the season have already set a career best through his two previous seasons in the NCAA. 

Defender of the Month

Noah Beck (Jr., Clarkson) is leading the way for the Golden Knights so far this season with four goals and three assists from the blue line in just seven games. He leads all league defenders in points and ranks fourth in the league among skaters. On October 28, Beck scored the overtime game-winner on the power play to defeat Lake Superior State and help the team to their first road win of the season. 

Goaltender of the Month

Jack Watson (So., Rensselaer) is embracing his role as the Engineers’ starting goaltender, helping the team to a 5-2 record to open their 2022-23 campaign. Through seven games started and over 400 minutes played, Watson has made 166 saves (good for third in the league) and ranks first in win percentage among goalies with more than three games played. On October 14, he recorded his first clean sheet of the season with a 1-0 shutout of Long Island. Watson has already recorded two games with more than 30 saves, both wins, including a season-high 37 in a 3-2 OT win vs. Mercyhurst on October 8.

Rookie of the Month

Nate Hanley (Fr., Union) has opened his collegiate career with a bang, scoring two goals and adding seven assists through his first ten games. Hanley’s nine points are tied for the league lead and tied for fourth place among the nation’s rookies. Hanley has gotten on the score sheet in each of the Dutchmen’s three wins and has recorded three multi-point contests so far,
