CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- Tight games and late drama were the theme of the first Friday of league play as RPI, Quinnipiac, Yale, and Union all picked up wins in their conference openers. The Engineers erased a 3-0 deficit and eventually took down Dartmouth, 5-4, in overtime. Quinnipiac and Yale blanked Brown (1-0) and Princeton (3-0), respectively, while Union earned a 3-1 league win on the road at Harvard.
Clarkson continued to dominant non-league competition, posting a 5-1 win over Robert Morris. Cornell nearly came back to beat Mercyhurst, but settled for a tie after a penalty shot in the final seconds of overtime hit the post.
