ECAC Hockey Announces 2022-23 Men’s All-League Teams

Ten member programs represented by all-league honorees

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey is proud to announce the selection of 24 student-athletes to its 2022-23 Men’s All-League Teams, with players representing ten member institutions making up the all-ECAC Hockey First, Second, and Third teams and the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team.

Individual award winners will be announced in conjunction with the release of All-League Teams. Additionally, the 2023 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year will be selected from the 2022-23 ECAC Hockey All-Rookie team.

The ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team forward corps is headlined by unanimous selections Sam Lipkin and Joe Miller, along with Engineer standout Sutter Muzzatti. Lipkin was a top performer in the league all season long, putting up 11 goals and adding 18 assists for 29 points in 22 league contests. Miller, in his first season donning the crimson and white, finished fourth on the team in scoring with ten goals and ten assists through 21 contests. He had one power play goal and two game-winners, and finished first on the team with a +23 rating. Rounding out the trio is Muzzatti, who tied for the team lead in scoring with 22 points, courtesy of seven goals and 15 assists. 

John Prokop and Ryan Healey bolster the All-Rookie blue line. Prokop led the Dutchmen in scoring with two goals and 12 assists for 14 points on the season. He blocked 22 shots, tied for third on the team. Healey had two goals, including a power play marker, and four assists for six points as a freshman, while also blocking three shots and helping the Harvard defense limit goals against to just 48, good for third best in the league. 

Cooper Black headlines the All-Rookie Team, starting every league game for the Big Green and playing 1279:58 between the pipes. Through 22 contests, Black made 596 saves, rounding out the season with a .909 save percentage and 2.81 goals against average. 

Third Team All-ECAC Hockey

The Third Team All-ECAC Hockey offense is powered by a trio of forwards, two representing Clarkson and one from Quinnipiac. Martino, a sophomore, led the Golden Knights with seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points, trailed closely by Gosselin, who put up seven goals and 14 assists to boost the Clarkson offense. The Third Team forward corps is rounded out by Skyler Brind’Amour, who scored seven goals, three of them on the power play and two of them game-winners, and added 11 assists for 18 points.

On the blue line, Noah Beck and Tanner Palocsik helped anchor their respective teams’ defensive units. Beck, who had 12 points during league play, blocked 13 shots and finished the season with a +3 rating. Palocsik led the Big Green in scoring with 16 points, courtesy of two goals and 14 assists, and blocked 20 shots.

Mathieu Caron rounds out the back end for the Third Team, starting 16 games between the pipes and playing nearly 975 minutes. Allowing just 43 goals against, Caron finished the season with a stat line of 2.65 goals against and .917 save percentage, making 476 saves. 

Second Team All-ECAC Hockey

The Second Team All-ECAC Hockey forward corps is led by Harvard duo Matthew Coronato and Alex Laferriere and Quinnipiac’s Ethan de Jong, all three of whom contributed to some of the league’s best offensive units. Coronato scored 12 goals, including three power play markers and five game-winners, and added 13 assists for 25 points, good for third on the Crimson. Laferriere scored 13 goals and had 14 helpers, including six goals scored with the skater advantage and two game-winning tallies. Rounding out the offense is Ethan de Jong, whose 20 points finished third on the Bobcats; de Jong scored three goals on the power play, one shorthanded, and registered five game-winners.

Quinnipiac captain Zach Metsa and St. Lawrence all-star Luc Salem comprise the Second Team blue line, anchoring their respective teams’ defensive corps and playing an integral role in limiting their opponents’ goals against. Metsa scored four goals and had 11 assists, totaling 15 points, and blocked 15 shots during league play. Across the ice, Salem led the Saints in both scoring, with six goals and 12 assists, and in blocked shots, with 29. 

In goal, Mike Richter Award Semifinalist Mitchell Gibson represents Harvard on the Second Team. Through more than 900 minutes between the pipes, Gibson allowed just 30 goals, making 320 saves and finishing league play with a .914 save percentage and 1.99 goals against average.

First Team All-ECAC Hockey

The First Team All-ECAC Hockey is headlined by a trio of league-leading forwards, including unanimous selections Collin Graf and Sean Farrell, and Alex Young. In his first season as a Bobcat, Graf led the team in scoring with 14 goals and 19 assists during league play, scoring five goals and two game-winners and potting his first hat trick. Farrell led both the Crimson and the league in goals (17), assists (19), and points (36), scoring three goals on the power play and two shorthanded to excel on special teams. Colgate’s Alex Young rounds out the First Team offense, scoring 14 goals and adding 14 helpers to lead the Raiders and finish fourth league-wide. 

Harvard captain Henry Thrun and Cornell captain Sam Malinski are the First Team selections to the blue line. Thrun led Crimson defenders in scoring, with two goals and 18 assists, and blocked 21 shots, good for second on the team. Malinski finished tied for first on the Big Red in scoring with 20 points, courtesy of seven goals and 13 assists, and blocked 20 shots. 

A back-to-back finalist for the Mike Richter Award, Yaniv Perets earns a First Team nod after playing more than 1200 minutes and allowing just 26 goals. Through 22 league games, Perets made 387 saves, finishing with a .937 save percentage and 1.26 goals against average, leading the league and the nation in several categories to round out a record-setting season.
