CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Sean Farrell (Harvard), Collin Graf (Quinnipiac), and Yaniv Perets (Quinnipiac) have been named top-10 finalists for the 2023 Hobey Baker Award.
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award, named for the late Princeton men’s hockey legend, annually honors the Division I men’s college hockey player who represents all that the distinguished alum stood for: strength of character, on and off the ice; contribution to team integrity and outstanding on-ice performance; achievement in the classroom and good sportsmanship; and compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations governing student-athletes.
Sean Farrell (Jr., Harvard)
Farrell reprises his role as one of the nation's leading scorers during his junior campaign, and in doing so, earns his the honor of being named a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award for the first time in his career. The junior forward concluded the regular season with 18 goals and 29 assists, leading the Crimson in scoring and playing an integral role in the team's second place finish in the league.
Most recently, Farrell has four points through the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Hockey Men's Tournament, scoring two goals and two assists en route to the Crimson's sweep of Princeton. He currently ranks third in the nation in scoring with 51 points in 31 games played.
Collin Graf (So., Quinnipiac)
For the first time in his career, Graf earns the honor of being named a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. The sophomore forward wrapped up the regular season with 19 goals and 30 assists; the Massachusetts native has been a part of a record-setting Bobcats team and has played an integral part in their offensive success. He has converted on the power play seven times during the 2022-23 campaign and scored four game-winners.
During the Bobcats’ postseason campaign, Graf has had a goal and four assists as the team swept Yale in their quarterfinal series to earn a spot in the league championship in Lake Placid. On March 10, he assisted on all three of the team’s goals in their 3-0 shutout of the Bulldogs.
Yaniv Perets (So., Quinnipiac)
Perets earns a nod as a top-10 finalist for the second consecutive season, anchoring one of the top defensive units in the nation and helping guide the Bobcats to a record-setting 20 wins in league play. The Québec native has set records on the national stage as well, recording a .875 winning percentage during his 36 starts. Perets’ 1.52 goals against average also leads the nation’s goaltenders. During his sophomore campaign so far, Perets has earned nine shutouts and finished with a .927 save percentage.
Most recently, Perets back stopped the Bobcats to a sweep of the team’s quarterfinal series against Yale, shutting out the Bulldogs 3-0 on March 10, then following it up with an 18-save performance in a 6-2 win on March 11.
The second phase of fan voting will run March 17-26 and be part of the process to choose the Hobey Hat Trick of three finalists on March 30 at 12 p.m. ET. The Hobey winner will be announced Friday, April 7 during the 2023 Men's Frozen Four.
