Colgate Earns Unanimous Top Billing from League Coaches

Serdachny Leads All-League Selections as Unanimous Choice

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - The stage is set for another thrilling season of ECAC Women's Hockey and the league's head coaches have announced the preseason poll and all-league team for the 2023-24 season.

The three-time defending ECAC Tournament Champion Colgate Raiders have been unanimously selected* to lead the way in the 2023-24 regular season. Their remarkable performance in 2022-23, finishing second in the league with an 18-3-1 record, and securing a third consecutive league title has earned them the distinction of being the preseason favorites for this year's campaign.

Last year’s regular season champion Yale (19-2-1) finished second in the preseason poll with 101 points. The Bulldogs' 19 league wins in 2022-23 surpassed their program record which was set a year earlier (16). Quinnipiac finished third with 96 points, squeezing by Cornell who ended up in fourth with 94 points and one first place vote. Closing in on the Big Red in fifth is three-time national champion Clarkson with 92 points.

The ECAC Women's Hockey Preseason All-League team has also been named, featuring some of the brightest stars in women's collegiate hockey. Colgate’s two-time ECAC Player and Forward of the Year Danielle Serdachny leads the pack with a unanimous selection* by the coaches. Joining Serdachny is Yale’s Elle Hartje, who is coming off a season best of 52 points (13G-39A), breaking her own record for assists in a season (35) and earning ECAC All-Academic and First Team. Rounding out the forwards is Princeton’s Sarah Fillier who helped lead Canada to its second straight IIHF World Championships and the 2022 Olympic Gold Medal. Fillier led the Tigers in goals (19), assists (18) and points (37) last season.

Moving to the blue line, Colgate’s Sydney Bard recorded a season-high 33 points last season, securing her spot on the ECAC Hockey First Team in 2022-23. Fresh off a gold medal run with Team USA in the IIHF World Championships, Cornell’s Rory Guilday finds a spot on the preseason all-league team for the second year in a row. Tied in votes with Guilday is Clarkson’s Haley Winn, the junior defender who helped Team USA secure the gold medal in the 2023 World Championships.

Reigning ECAC Goaltender of the Year Pia Dukaric wraps up the list of honorees. Last season, Dukaric broke her school's single season shutout record (8) while playing all 33 games for Yale. Dukaric represented her home country of Slovenia in the 2023 IIHF World Championships where she recorded the most minutes and most saves out of any goalie in the tournament.

*Unanimous selection requires 11 votes as coaches cannot vote for their own team or players.
