CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – After an eventful weekend of both league and non-league encounters, ECAC Hockey is proud to announce our men’s weekly award winners for the week ending on January 7, 2024: Teddy Wooding (Yale), Ian Pierce (Dartmouth), Jack Watson (Rensselaer), and Jack Stark (Yale).
Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Teddy Wooding (Sr., Yale) secures Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels honors, following a remarkable three-point performance that propelled the Bulldogs to a weekend sweep on the road at Rensselaer and Union. In Friday’s 2-1 victory, Wooding contributed with an assist on Ryan Conroy’s game-winning goal in the final frame. The senior forward also notched one goal and one assist in Saturday’s thrilling 4-2 victory, including the game-winning goal with three minutes left in regulation. Wooding concluded the weekend with a positive plus-minus of two.
Defender of the Week
Ian Pierce (Jr., Dartmouth) is recognized with Defender of the Week honors after an impressive showcase on the blueline, aiding the Big Green to a twin-state rival victory against Vermont. In Dartmouth’s sole game of the weekend, Pierce recorded five shots on goal. He netted two goals in the 4-3 win, with the first occurring in the second period to regain the lead, and the second, on the power play, served as the eventual game-winner.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Jack Watson (Jr., Rensselaer) is honored with MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week accolades following a standout performance between the pipes for the Engineers. Watson, who went 1-0-0 on the weekend, started in net during Saturday’s game against Brown. The junior netminder made an impressive 37 saves, holding the Bears to just one goal against. Watson maintains a .974 save percentage following his sixth start of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Jack Stark (Fr., Yale) earns the title of Rookie of the Week after delivering an outstanding performance in the backstop for the Bulldogs. Stark, who went 2-0-0 on the road trip weekend, limited Rensselaer to just one goal in Friday’s 2-1 victory and stopped 27 shots faced from the Garnet Chargers in Saturday’s 4-2 win. The first-year goaltender boasts a .940 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average.
