CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey is proud to announce the men’s weekly award recipients for the week concluding on February 18, 2023: Collin Graf (Quinnipiac), John Fusco (Dartmouth), Ian Shane (Cornell), and Mason Marcellus (Quinnipiac).
Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Collin Graf (Jr., Quinnipiac) secures the title of Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels, with an exceptional performance for the Bobcats, guiding them to a weekend sweep against Union and Rensselaer. In Friday’s 6-2 victory, Graf contributed with an assist on Jacob Quillan’s goal. The following night, the junior forward showcased his scoring talent by recording his first hat trick of the season, concluding the weekend with four points and a positive plus-minus of two.
Defender of the Week
John Fusco (Jr., Dartmouth) earns Defender of the Week honors with a strong performance on the blueline during the Big Green’s 1-0-1 weekend. In Saturday’s 4-4 tie with St. Lawrence, the junior defender notched a goal in the second period, providing Dartmouth with the lead. Fusco followed up with an assist on Eric Charpentier’s game-tying goal in the final frame. With this performance, Fusco recorded his third multi-point display of the season and finished with a positive plus-minus of two.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Ian Shane (Jr., Cornell) secures MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors with a solid performance in the crease, aiding the Big Red to a 1-0-1 weekend at home. In Friday’s three-goal victory against Brown, the junior netminder achieved his third shutout of the season. During Saturday’s one-goal tie with Yale, Shane played a crucial role, helping the Big Red secure the extra point in the shootout. Shane concluded the weekend with an impressive 0.48 goals-against average and .963 save percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Mason Marcellus (Fr., Quinnipiac) is bestowed with Rookie of the Week honors, showcasing another impressive performance on the Bobcats’ offense, contributing three points over the weekend sweep. In Saturday’s 7-2 victory against Rensselaer, Marcellus secured the game-winning goal midway through the first period. The first-year forward added another goal in the middle frame and assisted on Travis Treloar’s goal to cap off the weekend.
