Villegas, Moore, Koskenvuo, Hotson Claim Men's Weekly Awards

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey proudly announces the first men’s weekly award winners for the ECAC Hockey Playoff Tournament for the week ending on March 10, 2024: Caden Villegas (Union), Ian Moore (Harvard), Aku Koskenvuo (Harvard), and Tyler Hotson (Rensselaer).

Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Caden Villegas (Jr., Union) secures Forward of the Week honors, presented by Bluebird Hotels, following a two-goal game in Saturday’s 6-0 triumph against Brown, propelling the Garnet Chargers to the quarterfinals. Villegas notched the game-winning goal just six minutes into the opening frame and added his second goal halfway through the third period. The junior forward registered four shots on goal in the contest.

Defender of the Week
Ian Moore (Jr., Harvard) earns Defender of the Week honors after contributing to the Crimson's victory in the opening round, securing a spot in the quarterfinals. Moore netted the lone goal of the game seven minutes into the first frame, ensuring the one-goal victory. The junior defender concluded the night with a positive plus-minus of one and blocked one shot.

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Aku Koskenvuo (So., Harvard) claims MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors with an impressive performance in the crease, stopping all 38 shots faced and advancing the Crimson to the quarterfinals. The one-goal shutout marked his second of the year and his first win of the season against Princeton.

Rookie of the Week
Tyler Hotson (Fr., Rensselaer) is given with Rookie of the Week honors for an exceptional performance in the opening round for the Engineers. He scored a crucial goal in the 3-2 victory, upsetting the No. 5 seed Golden Knights and securing a spot in the quarterfinals. Hotson tallied the first goal just 40 seconds after the puck drop for the early lead, finishing the night with a positive plus-minus of one.
