No. 12 Quinnipiac Clinches Fifth Consecutive Cleary Cup

CANTON, N.Y. — The No. 12 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program clinched its fifth consecutive Cleary Cup as the ECAC's regular season champion, defeating St. Lawrence 4-0 on Saturday night at Appleton Arena.
Jeremy Wilmer gave the Bobcats all they needed, scoring the first two goals and dishing an assist on another as Quinnipiac controlled from start to finish in the victory.
The Bobcats added more insurance in the third, as Tyler Borgula and Andon Cerbone added a pair of goals to ensure the win.
Matej Marinov recorded his second shutout of the season, stopping all 19 shots on his cage.
 
STATS AND NOTES
  • The Bobcats won their fifth straight and ninth overall Cleary Cup as the league's regular season champion. All of them have come since the 2012-13 campaign.
  • It is the fourth Bobcat shutout of the season, with Marinov and Dylan Silverstein with a pair of clean sheets apiece.
  • Jeremy Wilmer matched his season best with a pair of goals, his third such performance this season.
  • Wilmer, Andon Cerbone and Travis Treloar all extended their points streak to six games.
  • Quinnipiac is 10-1-1 at St. Lawrence in his last 12 games. 
UP NEXT
The postseason awaits, as the Bobcats will host a three-game series in the ECAC Quarterfinals beginning March 14 at M&T Bank Arena. Puck drop in Game 1 will be 7 p.m., while Game 2 and 3 (if nec.) are slated for 4 p.m. puck drops.
