Men's Ice Hockey 1/15/2026 6:42:28 PM ECAC Hockey Five Alums to Battle for Gold in the 2026 Winter Olympics Two Former Players Named to Support Staff DANBURY, CONN. - ECAC Hockey is proud to announce that five former players will represent the league at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Clarkson leads all ECAC Hockey programs with three alumni earning spots on their respective national team rosters. Clarkson alums Nico Sturm and Lukas Kälble will represent Germany, while Haralds Egle will skate for Latvia. Quinnipiac alum Devon Toews will represent Canada, and RPI alum Justin Addamo will represent France. In addition, two former ECAC Hockey players will serve on national team support staff. Don Sweeney (Harvard ’88) has been named Assistant General Manager for Team Canada, while Bill Zito (Yale ’87) will serve as Assistant General Manager for Team USA. Men’s hockey competition will run from February 11–22, marking the first Olympic tournament featuring NHL players since the 2014 Sochi Games. All 12 teams will play three preliminary round games within their respective groups, with all teams advancing to a single-elimination playoff. Group A consists of Canada, Switzerland, Czechia, and France. Group B includes Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, and Italy. Group C features the United States, Germany, Latvia, and Denmark. The Gold Medal game is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, at 8:10 a.m. ET.
