CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its women’s weekly award winners, honoring Emily King (Union), Stephanie Bourque (Union), Michelle Pasiechnyk (Clarkson), and Madison Chantler (Quinnipiac) for the week of play ending October 2, 2022.
Forward of the Week
Senior captain Emily King (Sr., Union) made a big impact for the Dutchwomen this weekend, finishing with four points across two contests vs. Holy Cross. On Friday, King assisted on Riley Walsh’s opening power play tally to tie the game in the second period, then scored a goal of her own late in the third in a comeback attempt that fell just short. King scored two of Union’s three goals on Saturday to power the team to a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross to help earn the series split. She finished the weekend ranked second nationally in a four-way tie for scoring.
Defender of the Week
Stephanie Bourque (Fr., Union) scored her first points in the NCAA on Friday when she assisted on all three of Union’s goals in the 4-3 loss to Holy Cross. Bourque has made an immediate impact on the Dutchwomen’s power play, dishing out two of her assists while skating with the player advantage. She had the lone assist on both Amanda Quan and Emily King’s third period tallies.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Michelle Pasiechnyk (Jr., Clarkson) kept the momentum of her third season rolling with a dominant performance against Bemidji State on Friday. In her second start of the 2022-23 season, Pasiechnyk made twenty saves en route to her second shutout of the year, including fending off two power play pushes by the Beavers.
Rookie of the Week
Madison Chantler (Fr., Quinnipiac) also scored her first collegiate points in dominant fashion: with her first career hat trick on Friday vs. Boston College. To cap off the weekend, Chantler added another goal on Sunday vs. New Hampshire, adding the final insurance goal in both games and landing herself atop the Bobcats’ scoring leaderboard. She finished the weekend tied for the goal-scoring lead in conference play, and currently ranks second nationally in a four-way tie for scoring.
