Union Earns Milestone Win, Three Others Complete Weekend Sweeps

Colgate, Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence Finish Two-Win Weekends

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Union tallied three goals en route to a milestone victory over Boston University on Saturday. It was the first victory over the Terriers in Union's program history. 

Colgate, Quinnipiac, and St. Lawrence all completed sweeps of their weekend opponents and Yale began its season with an exhibition victory over McGill.

BOSTON, MASS. – The Union College women's hockey team had three different scorers find the back of the net as the Dutchwomen earned their first ever win in program history over the Boston University Terriers. Union won 3-1 on Saturday afternoon from Walter Brown Arena. Union improved to 3-3 on the season. Senior Carmen Merlo scored and added an assist, and sophomores Emma Hebert and Ashley Adams both found the back of the net as well. Senior Emily King, sophomores Maren Friday and Paige Greco, and first-year Greta Kropp all chipped in with assists.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – Colgate Women's hockey walked away with the weekend sweep Saturday in a tightly contested battle against No. 11 Penn State, winning in the final minute by a score of 2-1. Freshman Elyssa Biederman scored the game-winning goal with exactly one minute left in regulation. Her first collegiate goal came after Penn State netted the equalizer earlier in the period and kept the Raiders unbeaten at 5-0 on the young season.

HAMDEN, CT - No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey defeated Saint Anselm by the final score of 7-1 on Saturday, Oct. 8 at M&T Bank Arena. With the victory, the Bobcats move to 6-0 so far in 2022-23. 12 Bobcats recorded points and three players had multiple points. Kate Reilly had a goal and assist and both Shay Maloney and Kendall Cooper recorded two assists.

ST. LAWRENCE 5 - SYRACUSE 3

CANTON, N.Y. - Rachel Bjorgan notched an unassisted game-winning goal, as the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team completed the series sweep of Syracuse, topping the Orange 5-3 on Saturday afternoon during Laurentian Weekend. Today's win also saw five different goal scorers, as the Saints improved to 3-3-0 on the season, while Syracuse fell to 1-4-0.

ERIE, Pa. - Despite out shooting the Lakers, the Knights dropped an overtime loss today in Erie to Mercyhurst. The Knights fell behind when Chantal Ste-Croix scored at 2:02 of the 2nd period.  Early in the 3rd period, Jaden Bogden would net her first goal of her career as a Golden Knight to tie up the game.
