Callin, Metsa, Pearson, and Lipkin Claim Weekly Awards

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly award winners, honoring Anthony Callin (Clarkson), Zach Metsa (Quinnipiac), Ethan Pearson (Princeton), and Sam Lipkin (Quinnipiac) for the week of play ending November 12, 2022.

Forward of the Week

Anthony Callin (Gr., Clarkson) claims his first weekly honors of the season after a four-point weekend (including his first multi-point games of the season) for the Golden Knights. On Friday, he assisted on teammate Alex Campbell’s second goal of the night on the power play, then added a tally of his own in the third period to help Clarkson shut out Colgate. Callin had two power play points on Saturday as well, including an assist on Jordan Power’s power play tally in the first period and then finding the back of the net again while skating with the player advantage.

Defender of the Week

Captain Zach Metsa (Gr., Quinnipiac) is your back-to-back Defender of the Week after a three-point performance from the Bobcats’ blue line. On Friday, Metsa assisted on a power play equalizer by Ethan de Jong during a busy second period. His power play prowess continued on Saturday, when he assisted on Collin Graf’s second goal of the first period, then found the back of the net himself in the opening minutes of the second frame.

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week

Ethan Pearson (So., Princeton) has stepped up for the Tigers this season and solidified his role between the pipes. This past weekend, Pearson earned the first and second shutouts of his collegiate career, making 25 and 21 saves against Yale and Brown, respectively. Pearson improves to 2-1 on the season.

Rookie of the Week

Sam Lipkin (Fr., Quinnipiac) had his biggest weekend so far this season, finishing with five points and two wins. The forward assisted on Ethan de Jong’s power play goal on Friday, then added helpers on all four Bobcat goals in Saturday’s shutout of Yale. Lipkin had two power play assists and two more at even strength, including setting up teammate Zach Metsa for an even-strength laser of a goal in the second period.
