CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its women’s weekly award winners, honoring Darcie Lappan (Clarkson), Sydney Bard (Colgate), Sophie Matsoukas (Union), and Georgia Schiff (Cornell) for the week of play ending November 14, 2022.
Forward of the Week
Darcie Lappan (Sr., Clarkson) had five points en route to Clarkson’s weekend sweep of St. Lawrence. On Thursday, Lappan assisted on Olivia Hanson’s opening goal then found the back of the net herself in the second period to tie the game at two. She added another helper in the third period on Nicole Gosling’s power play tally to pull the Golden Knights ahead, then added her fourth point of the night with an assist on Gretchen Branton’s overtime game-winner. Lappan’s goal on Saturday was the only goal of the contest and stood as the game-winner as Clarkson shut out St. Lawrence and took the first two games of the Route 11 Rivalry.
Defender of the Week
Sydney Bard (Sr., Colgate) had another great weekend for the Raiders from the blue line, including three assists during the team’s 5-4 defeat of Harvard and blocking two shots during Saturday’s win over Dartmouth. On Friday, Bard assisted on Katie Chan’s first goal of the season to open the game. She also added a helper on Danielle Serdachny’s goal to go up 3-0, then helped Kristýna Kaltounková convert on the power play with five seconds left in regulation to knock off the Crimson.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Sophie Matsoukas (So., Union) added her fifth and sixth wins of the season this weekend when the Dutchwomen swept RIT at home in Schenectady. On Friday, Matsoukas made 34 saves through regulation and overtime to hold off the Tigers, then followed it up with a 23-save performance on Saturday. She only allowed three goals through over 120 minutes of play and kept RIT from converting with the player advantage throughout all of Saturday’s contest.
Rookie of the Week
Georgia Schiff (Fr., Cornell) had three points in Cornell’s win over Dartmouth this weekend for her first multi-point game of the season. More than halfway through the second period of Friday’s contest in Hanover, Schiff got on the board with an equalizer that tied the game at four goals apiece. Less than five minutes later, she scored the go-ahead goal to put the Big Red up by one. She also had one blocked shot vs. Dartmouth and two in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Harvard.
