Three Teams Pick Up Wins to Open 2022-23 Season

Clarkson, Quinnipiac, Union all Earn Victories in Opening Campaigns

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Three teams earned victories on the opening night of non-conference play in the 2022-23 ECAC Women's Hockey season on Friday night. Clarkson, Quinnipiac, and Union all picked up strong wins in their respective regular season openers.

St. Lawrence also played on Friday night, battling a solid Providence team in what ultimately resulted in an overtime loss.

SHELTON, Conn. - The Clarkson Golden Knights opened the 2022-23 season with a dominating win at Sacred Heart.  The scoreboard didn't reflect the overwhelming shot and time of possession edge that favored the Golden Knights.

DURHAM, N.H. - For the second straight year in a row the Union College women's hockey team opened the season with a win. First-year Riley Walsh chipped in with two goals including her first collegiate goal, and senior Emily King added the game winner in the second period, as Union hung on for a 3-2 victory over the University of New Hampshire on Friday evening from the Whittemore Center. This was Union's first ever victory over the Wildcats.

QUINNIPIAC 3 - MAINE 2 (OT)

ORONO, Maine - Junior forward Olivia Mobley scored the game-winner with just 10.1 seconds left in overtime, as No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey downed Maine, 3-2, in the Bobcats' 2022-23 season opener.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Taylor Lum tied the game with 3:12 remaining in the third period to send the game to overtime, but Reichen Kirchmair tallied the game winner with 1:32 left in overtime, as the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team fell to Providence College, 3-2, in the 2022-23 season opener on Friday evening in Providence, R.I.
