CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its women’s award winners for the month of December: Izzy Daniel (Cornell), Olivia Muhn (Yale), Michelle Pasiechnyk (Clarkson), and Elyssa Biederman (Colgate).

Forward of the Month

Forward of the Month Izzy Daniel (Jr., Cornell) had herself a December, picking up seven points in four games off of four goals and three assists. Daniel opened the month with a goal and an assist against Yale, handing the Bulldogs their first draw of the season. The next day at Brown, she added the Big Red’s opening and final goals, helping the team to their first win of the month. Two weeks later, in a non-league series at home against top-ranked Ohio State, Daniel scored a goal and added an assist in a close contest that saw the Big Red nearly force overtime against the #1 team in the nation. To cap it all off, Daniel blocked nine shots over four games against offensively-dominant teams.

Defender of the Month

Olivia Muhn (So., Yale) had points from the blue line in each of Yale’s four games this season, scoring her first goal of the season and adding three assists for four points. She opened the month with assists in three straight games against Cornell, Colgate, and Rensselaer, and blocked three shots in the Bulldogs’ 3-0 shutout of the Engineers on December 9. In the team’s final contest of the month, Muhn scored her first goal of the season and second of her career in a 6-1 rout of Union; her goal would stand as the game-winner, the second such tally of her career.

Goaltender of the Month

Michelle Pasiechnyk (Jr., Clarkson) earns ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month after a perfect 2-0-0 record in December that saw her allow just one goal on 45 shots. On December 2, Pasiechnyk back-stopped the Golden Knights to a 5-1 victory over Harvard, then earned her seventh shutout of the season and fourth in league play the very next day when she blanked Dartmouth. She finished the month with a .977 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average.

Rookie of the Month

In two games during the month of December, ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month Elyssa Biederman (Fr., Colgate) scored four goals and added an assist for five points. Biederman opened the month at Brown on December 2 with a three-goal performance for her first collegiate hat trick and the first multi-point game of her collegiate career. She followed it up the next day at Yale with an assist on an early equalizer and a goal of her own midway through the second period. She would be part of the Raiders’ successful effort to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.
