O’Leary, Moore, Shane, Prokop, Lipkin Claim Weekly Awards

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly award winners, honoring Jack O’Leary (Cornell), Ian Moore (Harvard), Ian Shane (Cornell), John Prokop (Union), and Sam Lipkin (Quinnipiac) for the week of play ending February 25, 2023.

Forward of the Week 

Jack O’Leary (Jr., Cornell) had a four-point week for the Big Red, scoring two goals and adding two assists as Cornell rounded out the regular season with two big wins. On Friday, O’Leary opened the scoring for the Big Red in their 5-0 shutout of Brown in Providence in what would stand as the eventual game-winner; he then added an assist on the game’s final tally. O’Leary had a repeat performance on Saturday, scoring a goal in the second period and adding a helper on a third period insurance goal. 

Defender of the Week

Ian Moore (So., Harvard) had two points from the blue line this week, including a goal and an assist to extend the Crimson’s win streak to four games. On Friday, Moore assisted on the team’s fourth goal of the game, then followed it up with a game-winning buzzer beater to close out the second period of Saturday’s contest. 

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week

Ian Shane (So., Cornell) had a near-perfect weekend between the pipes for the Big Red, going 2-0-0 and allowing just one goal. Shane faced 36 shots and turned aside 35 of them for a .972 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average through 120 minutes of play, earning his fourth clean sheet of the season. He backstopped the Big Red to a sweep in the final weekend of the regular season, including a 5-0 win and a 5-1 victory.

Co-Rookies of the Week

John Prokop (Fr., Union) earns Co-Rookie of the Week honors after registering two points from the blue line for the Dutchmen in their weekend split with Quinnipiac and Princeton. On Saturday, Prokop assisted on the team’s opening goal, then added a helper on Liam Robertson’s power play snipe to round out the team’s scoring. 

Sam Lipkin (Fr., Quinnipiac) reprises his role as one of the league's top rookies with three points in Quinnipiac's historic finish to the regular season. On Friday, Lipkin had an assist in the Bobcats' opening goal, then followed up his performance on Saturday with a power play goal and another helper as Quinnipiac brought down Rensselaer, 4-1.
