Quillan Named HCA Men's Hockey Player of the Month for March, April

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) has named Quinnipiac sophomore forward Jacob Quillan Men's Hockey Player of the Month for March/April after his nine point stat line through seven games.

Quillan opened the month of March with goals in back-to-back contests against Yale, including the game-winner in the Bobcats' opening game againist the Bulldogs in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Hockey Men's Championship Tournament (March 10). He added a tally the next day (March 110) as Quinnipiac swept Yale in two games to advance to the tournament semifinals.

Through the entire awards period, Quillan was kept off the scoresheet just once, during Quinnipiac's double overtime loss to Colgate in the league semifinals.

After the Bobcats earned an at-large bid to the national tournament, Quillan scored twice in the team's regional semifinal match-up against Merrimack. That same weekend, he assisted on a power play goal as Quinnipiac downed Ohio State, 4-1, to advance to their third Frozen Four in six years.

He continued to generate offense in Tampa, opening the Bobcats' first contest at the Frozen Four with a goal just 5:18 into the opening frame. From there, he added another goal and assisted on the game-winner to down Michigan and advance to the national championship game. Against the national favorite Minnesota Golden Gophers, Quillan had the magic touch, scoring the overtime game-winner to win Quinnipiac the program's first national title in program history. He was named to the 2023 Men's Frozen Four All-Tournament Team and the tournamen's Most Outstanding Player.

Sam Lipkin (Fr., Quinnipiac) was named a runner-up for Men's Rookie of the Month and netminder Ian Shane (So., Cornell) was named a runner-up for Men's Goaltender of the Month.
