SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The accolades keep rolling in for Union College men's hockey forward Ben Muthersbaugh as the first-year was named the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) Rookie of the Month, the organization announced on Friday afternoon.

Muthersbaugh leads all rookie skaters with 13 points (6-7-13) in seven games in the month of October. His six goals tie him for first among all skaters. The Gilford, N.H. native has recorded five multi-point games this season and is currently on a four-game point streak.

Muthersbaugh put together a seven-point weekend (3-4-7) against Mercyhurst and followed it up with a four-point weekend (2-2-4) against RPI. The rookie scored both game-winning goals against the Engineers to help Union reclaim the Capital Skates trophy for the first time since 2017. Earlier this week, he was named the ECAC Hockey #Bitcoin Rookie of the Month and the Forward of the Month, presented by Bluebird Hotels. He has been honored by ECAC Hockey with three weekly awards so far. Last week he was the Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels, and has gone back-to-back as the #Bitcoin Rookie of the Week. He leads all first-year players in the nation with 13 points and is only one point back from senior Jack Devine of Denver for first overall.

He is the first Union player to be honored by the HCA since Mike Vecchione '17 was honored in October 2016. He also becomes the first Union rookie to be recognized since Eli Lichtenwald '17 was honored in December 2013.

Across the ECAC, Clarkson's Ethan Langenegger was a Goalie of the Month runner-up, while Clarkson's Haley Winn and Colgate's Elyssa Biederman were Player of the Month runners-up.
