DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC Hockey has selected the men’s weekly award winners for the week ending on November 4th, 2024: Ryan Walsh (Cornell), William Gilson (RPI), Hayden Stavroff (Dartmouth), and Ian Shane (Cornell).
Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Ryan Walsh (Cornell) earns Forward of the Week honors, presented by Bluebird Hotels. The sophomore recorded one goal and two assists for the Big Red in a weekend sweep of No. 6 North Dakota at Lynah Rink. The former Cedar Rapids RoughRider (USHL) also recorded a +2 rating on the weekend.
Defender of the Week
William Gilson (RPI) is named Defender of the Week. The junior notched one goal and an assist this weekend in Oxford, Ohio, contributing to the Engineers 3-2 (OT) and 2-1 victories over Miami (OH). In eight games, Gilson has already matched his total goals scored last season when he played for the University of Alaska Anchorage (Ind.).
#Bitcoin Rookie of the Week
Hayden Stavroff (Dartmouth) earns Bitcoin Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Big Green to a pair of wins to start the season. The former Alberni Valley Bulldog (BCHL) scored two goals, one in each game, including the game-winner in the 2-1 win over rival Harvard. The first year takes his goal-per-game pace into league play next weekend against Quinnipiac and Princeton.
MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week
Ian Shane (Cornell) has been named the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week. The 2023-24 Ken Dryden ECAC Goaltender of the Year opened the season with a bang with two wins against #6 North Dakota. The senior had a .923 save percentage, four goals against, and 48 saves. Shane and the Big Red prepare for league play against Yale and Brown next weekend.
