Castagna, Chapleau, Shane, Stark Named In Weekly Honors

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey is proud to announce the men’s weekly award recipients for the week concluding on February 11, 2024: Jonathan Castagna (Cornell), Philippe Chapleau (St. Lawrence), Jack Stark (Yale), and Ian Shane (Cornell).

Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Jonathan Castagna (Fr., Cornell) secures the title of Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels, with a stellar five-point weekend for the Big Red, guiding them to a road sweep at Rensselaer and Union. In Friday’s 4-1 victory, the first-year forward netted the opening goal of the game. The following night, Castagna notched two consecutive goals, including the game-winner, and added a pair of assists. Castagna concluded the weekend with a favorable plus-minus of five.

Defender of the Week
Philippe Chapleau (Jr., St. Lawrence) garners Defender of the Week honors following an impressive performance on the blueline for the Saints, limiting the nationally-ranked Bobcats to just one goal in Friday’s 4-1 victory in Appleton. The junior defender recorded two consecutive goals in the third period, including the game-winner on the power play. Chapleau finished the weekend with a positive plus-minus of one.

MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Ian Shane (Jr., Cornell) earns MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors with a robust performance in the crease for the Big Red, guiding them to a flawless 2-0-0 road weekend. The junior netminder conceded only two goals and made 42 total saves in the weekend’s 4-1 and 6-1 victories. Shane posted an impressive 1.00 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week
Jack Stark (Fr., Yale) secures Rookie of the Week honors after an outstanding performance in the backstop for the Bulldogs, securing a 1-0-0 record. Stark took charge in net during Friday’s 3-1 victory against Brown. The first-year netminder recorded 19 saves, posting a 1.00 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.
