CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey proudly announces the men’s weekly award winners for the week ending on February 25, 2024: Ian Murphy (Princeton), Drake Burgin (St. Lawrence), Arthur Smith (Princeton), and CJ Foley (Dartmouth).
Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Ian Murphy (Sr., Princeton) attains the Forward of the Week honors, presented by Bluebird Hotels, culminating the weekend with an impressive six points during the Tigers' sweep at Yale and Brown. In Friday’s 4-1 victory, Murphy notched his first hat trick of the season and contributed an assist on Nick Carabin’s goal. The senior forward continued his stellar performance the next night, aiding the Tigers in a 5-1 win with two additional assists. Murphy concluded the weekend with a favorable plus-minus of five.
Defender of the Week
Drake Burgin (Jr., St. Lawrence) secures Defender of the Week honors with a commendable performance on the blueline, guiding the Saints to a 1-0-1 weekend. With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the junior defender scored the game-tying goal on the power play and provided an assist on Tyler Cristall’s game-winning goal in overtime, securing a 4-3 victory over Colgate. The following night, Burgin added another goal to finish the weekend with three points and a positive plus-minus of one.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Arthur Smith (Fr., Princeton) clinches MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors with an outstanding performance in the crease, leading the Tigers to a flawless 2-0-0 weekend on the road at Yale and Brown. Smith allowed just two goals throughout the weekend, resulting in a 1.00 goals-against average, and made 51 total saves, finishing with an impressive .962 save percentage.
Rookie of the Week
CJ Foley (Fr., Dartmouth) earns Rookie of the Week honors for his contribution to the Big Green's weekend sweep at Rensselaer and Union. The first-year forward recorded an assist on Cooper Flinton’s game-winning goal in the opening frame, leading to a 5-1 victory against Rensselaer. Foley added a goal of his own the following night to defeat Union by a score of 5-4, concluding the weekend with two points.
