ECAC Hockey Announces 2023-24 Women's All-Rookie Team

Standouts from Five Institutions Recognized as Honorees

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey is proud to announce the lineup of six outstanding student-athletes chosen for its 2023-24 Women’s Hockey All-Rookie Team, showcasing talent from five member institutions.

Please note that all statistics correspond to the final regular season statistics in ECAC Hockey play only.

Leading the pack on the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team is the unanimous selection of Colgate forward Emma Pais. Her exceptional performance during the regular season included an impressive 13 goals and 12 assists, accumulating 25 points across 22 games played. Noteworthy is Pais's contribution to the Raiders' special teams, securing two power-play goals and one shorthanded. Joining her on the All-Rookie Team is Quinnipiac’s Kahlen Lamarche, who led all freshmen on the Bobcats’ roster with 6 goals and 15 assists, setting the standard for ECAC Rookie forwards in assists. Completing the forward trio is Cornell’s Karel Prefontaine, whose 10 goals and 6 assists ranked her third in scoring on the Big Red. Prefontaine achieved a significant milestone with her first collegiate hat trick during a dominant victory over Dartmouth on January 26.

Defending the blueline is Rensselaer’s Andrea Trnková, whose impressive 17 total points surpass all ECAC Rookie defenders. Trnková showcased her skills with four goals and 13 assists throughout 20 games played for the Engineers. Joining her is Clarkson’s Keira Hurry, leading all freshmen on the nationally-ranked Golden Knights roster with two goals and six assists. Hurry registered an impressive 53 shots on goal and a favorable plus-minus of 13.

Between the pipes, Cornell’s Annelies Bergmann emerged as the unanimous choice for the All-Rookie goaltender. Bergmann’s debut collegiate season boasted a remarkable 14-4-0 record. In 18 league contests, she made 433 saves, reaching a career-high of 43 against Clarkson on February 3. The first-year netminder secured three shutouts against Dartmouth (January 26), Clarkson (February 3), and Rensselaer (February 9), culminating in a a .935 save percentage and a 1.61 goals-against average on the year.
