DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC proudly announces the men’s monthly award winners for December: Jack Ricketts (Gr., Quinnipiac), Tommy Bergsland (Sr., Colgate), Hayden Stavroff (Fr., Princeton), and Lawton Zacher (So., Brown).
Forward of the Month, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Jack Ricketts (Gr., Quinnipiac) claims Forward of the Month honors, presented by Bluebird Hotels. The former Oakville Blade (OJHL) had an impressive offensive display and ended the month with three games played, accumulating five goals throughout December while boasting a +6 rating. His most notable game this month was when he scored the first four goals in Quinnipiac’s 6-5 win over AIC on 12/29. He is tied for first on the team in goals with seven.
Ironhead Defender of the Month
Tommy Bergsland (Sr., Colgate) earned Ironhead Defender of the Month honors for his strong performance on the blue line throughout December. In two games of action, the former Bismarck Bobcat (NAHL) acquired five assists and an impressive +4 rating in December. Bergsland and the Raiders currently rank as the number-one team in the ECAC Hockey standings.
Bitcoin Rookie of the Month
Hayden Stavroff (Fr., Dartmouth) earns Bitcoin Rookie of the Month accolades. December was a breakout month for the former Alberni Valley (BCHL) defenseman, who amassed 5 points (3G, 2A) in 6 games for the Big Green, finishing with a +1 rating. The Columbus, Ohio native ended the month with a strong performance against Alaska Anchorage, scoring the game-winning goal to advance the Big Green to the Ledyard Classic championship game.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Month
Arthur Smith (So., Princeton) is honored as MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month for his stellar performance in the crease, posting a 3-0-0 record for the Tigers in December. The 2022 NAHL Rookie and Goalie of the year has played a pivotal role in Princeton’s five-game winning streak that started on November 29. The Farmington, Conn. native made 75 saves this month and allowed three goals for a GAA of 1.01.
