Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels
Kai Daniells (Jr., Princeton) has earned the Forward of the Week title, presented by Bluebird Hotels. The Nanaimo Clippers alum put on a show this past weekend, playing a key role in Princeton's weekend sweep over St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Friday night against St. Lawrence, Daniells scored five goals, tallying a hat trick and the game-winning goal with 3:10 to play in the third period for a 7-4 win. The junior forward tied Princeton's school record with five goals in the game. He is the fourth player in program history to score five times in a single game, the first since John Cook did so against Northeastern on November 30, 1962. His five goals are the most scored in a single game by a player in the NCAA this season and the most in a game since 2011. He stayed hot going into Saturday, tallying an assist and scoring the game-winning goal with 2:40 to play against Clarkson for the 4-3 win.
ADAPT Nutrition Defender of the Week
Brett Merner (So., Colgate) has been honored with the ADAPT Nutrition Defender of the Week award. The British Columbia native assisted teammate Tyson Doucette to open up scoring in the Raiders' 2-1 win over RPI. The next day, Merner tallied two assists against Union on the third and fourth goals that would take his team to overtime and eventual shootout, ending in a 4-4 tie with Union winning 2-1 in the shootout.
Rookie of the Week
Alexis Cournoyer (Fr., Cornell) claims Rookie of the Week recognition. The freshman goaltender was a brick wall this weekend, taking the Big Red 2-0-0 over Union and RPI. Cournoyer made 41 saves, with a 0.953 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average. Cournoyer's performance helped advance the ranked Big Red to a 6-2-0 overall and 5-1-0 in conference matchups. The Big Red hit the road to play against Boston University at Madison Square Garden on November 29.
MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week
Matej Marinov (Jr., Quinnipiac) is the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week. The Slovakian native and Fargo Force alum stood tall in between the pipes, going 2-0-0 this weekend. Marinov made 39 saves, with a 0.929 save percentage and 1.51 goals against average. The Bobcats will host Holy Cross in a non-conference matchup on November 26.
