SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The no. 5-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team and the Syracuse Orange played to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday night at Tennity Ice Pavillion. The Big Red moved to 9-2-1, while the Orange shifted to 6-10-2.

Cornell had the game's first power-play at the 9:31 mark after the Orange was tabbed for tripping. The Big Red produced a handful of shots during the advantage but none proved worthy of changing the scoreboard.

The Orange found itself on a power-play moments later when Beatrice Perron-Roy was hit with a tripping call of her own. Cornell controlled the majority of that time, continuing its dominant season on the penalty-kill. The Big Red earned another opportunity with four minutes to play in the first period, to no avail, as it was killed off by the Orange.

Prefontaine got the scoring started six minutes into the second period when she netted the puck to give Cornell a 1-0 lead. The Orange struck back, responding with five minutes left in the second period during a scramble in front of the net to bring the game even at 1-1.

Van Gelder found the go-ahead marker for Cornell eight minutes into the third frame on a power-play. Syracuse found the equalizer 15 minutes into the period. Cornell and Syracuse would hold each other scoreless for the remiaing five minutes, sending the game to overtime.

Syracuse had the game on it's stick with 25 seconds remaining in overtime on a three-on-one breakaway, but Bergmann came up big to make the stop and keep the game in tact. After a scoreless overtime period, the Big Red and the Orange went to shootouts to decide the victor. The Orange were successful on their two attempts, and stopped Cornell on both to take the shootout victory.
