DANBURY, CONN. – ECAC Hockey has selected the women’s weekly award winners for the week ending on January 20th, 2026: Sara Manness (Fr., Clarkson), Makayla Watson (So., Quinnipiac), Samson Frey (Fr., Yale), and Uma Corniea (Jr., Princeton).
Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Week
Sara Manness (Fr., Clarkson) claims Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Week honors. The freshman forward has had an impressive rookie season. The Golden Knights went 2-0 this weekend over RPI and Union. Friday night, Manness tallied two assists and took advantage of the power play to find the back of the net in the third period to win 7-1 over the Engineers. The next night, the Winnipeg native scored the game-winning goal and tallied an assist for a 5-1 win over the Garnet Chargers. The game-winning goal was Sara Manness's 10th in her last seven games, a streak in which she has scored at least one goal in that stretch.
ADAPT Nutrition Defender of the Week
Makayla Watson (So., Quinnipiac) has been named the ADAPT Nutrition Defender of the Week. The Bobcats went 2-0 over Dartmouth and Harvard, where Watson tallied three points. Friday night, Quinnipiac shut out Dartmouth while Watson tallied an assist on the first and game-winning goal. The next day, Watson scored the game-winning goal against Harvard and tallied an assist on the Bobcats' third power play goal, defeating Harvard 4-1.
Rookie of the Week
Samson Frey (Fr., Yale) claims Rookie of the Week recognition. The Northport, N.Y. native went 3-0-0 this past week, recording a shutout against Colgate. Frey made a total of 79 saves for a .963 save percentage and allowed only three goals in the Bulldogs' 3-1 win over No. 10 Cornell Saturday and 4-2 win over Providence Monday night. The Bulldogs are off this weekend and are back in action as they hit the road to play RPI and Union on January 30-31.
MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
Uma Corniea (Jr., Princeton) has been awarded the MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week award. Hailing from Edina, Minnesota, the goaltender has been a brick wall, going 2-0-0. Friday night, Corniea only let in one goal, defeating Harvard 5-1, and shut out Dartmouth 5-0 the next day. Corniea made 34 saves for a .971 save percentage, delivering the Tigers their program-record 13th straight win.
