Thompson '20, Fillier '24 Win Olympic Silver

With the rivalry between Team Canada and Team USA in women's hockey at the Olympic Games adding another chapter Thursday night in Milan, Italy, Claire Thompson '20 and Sarah Fillier '24 added a medal of a different color to their collection and became the first former Princeton varsity student-athletes to win multiple Olympic Winter Games medals.

Four years after defeating Team USA in the 2022 Olympic final in Beijing, Thompson, Fillier and Canada battled the U.S. to overtime before a 2-1 defeat.

Fillier had three goals and three assists during the tournament, scoring a goal apiece in group-stage games against Switzerland and Czechia and the quarterfinals against Germany and getting the assists against Switzerland, Finland and Germany. Thompson, a defender, had a goal and three assists, getting two helpers against the Swiss in the group stage and one more against Czechia before scoring a goal in the Germany game.

Fillier's six points were second among Canadians at the tournament and tied for 12th overall, and her three goals were second among Canadians and tied for eighth overall.
